The upright LIAchroic laser scanning confocal is equipped with 4x, 10x, 20x dry, as well as 25x water dipping and 63x oil objectives. Other features include DIC optics, three high sensitivity HyD detectors, a color camera, and 405, 448, 488, 514, 561, and 638 solid-state lasers. This instrument was designed for live-imaging plant tissues and immuno-localization of fixed and sectioned samples, but it is also well suited to a variety of applications needing an upright configuration. There are no other upright confocal microscopes on campus that are part of the MOAI. The Leica software is capable of FRAP, FRET, deconvolution, and tiling applications.
